Phasing
You start a journey with the ultimate goal of optimizing your hybrid infrastructure, cloud and on-premises.
In our opinion, your journey to the cloud should be gradual and at your own pace, but we do use a proven process that consists of the following phases:
1. Cloud design
We conduct a strategic dialog about your infrastructure in relation to the (possibilities of) the cloud and arrive at a joint framework of terms and the final design of a solution.
2. Cloud integration
We set up your Modern Virtual DataCenter infrastructure at Equinix and arrange connectivity to the cloud.
3. Cloud optimalization
In this phase, one of your data center will disappear and this will be replaced by our Modern Virtual DataCenter concept at Equinix (your new “on-prem”). Non-business-critical data and processes, such as back-up, archiving or management servers, are the first to be moved to the cloud.
4. Target architecture realization
Target architecture is realized when the processes designated in the design phase have been fully moved to the cloud.
5. On-prem minimalization
Computer and storage have moved to the cloud and within the Modern Virtual Data Center concept only a minimal on-premises setup at Equinix remains. It contains the intelligence within your hybrid setup to continue to guarantee security, identities, portability and exits, now and in the future.
6. Data-centricity
Digital transformation covers different areas, including people, processes and technology. IT systems must be made suitable for the transition to more data-centricity.
